The new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Rishi Sunak, who is said to be belonging to Indian origin, on the day of joining performed the Hindu rituals before entering his office at Downing street.
This was not the first time when PM Rishi Sunak flaunted his Indian roots; the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom was seen tying a magnificent red thread which is said to be an auspicious ritual in the Hindu religion, Rishi was seen tying it on his wrist on the very first day of joining office as Prime Minister.
The Hindu MP also served ‘gau puja’ with his wife in London, winning praise from Indians living in the UK.
Social media was swept with videos and photos all over; people across the globe were sharing the videos on various social media platforms. Hindus were seen getting proud of UK’s PM indulging in Hindu rituals.
As seen in the video, Sunak and his wife, Akshata Murthy, are seen with various other Hindus standing inside an section with a cow. The couple is seen performing ‘gau pooja’.
While Sunak holds a brass vessel in his hand, a priest guides the couple to perform the rituals.
Earlier this year, Sunak visited a temple with his wife, Akshata, on Janmashtami in August.
Sunak also regularly visits the temple in Hampshire and has been quite vocal about his religious beliefs.
“I am now a citizen of Britain. But my religion is Hindu. My sacred and cultural heritage is Indian. I proudly say that I am a Hindu, and my essence is also a Hindu,” he had once said.
