Liz Truss announces her new Cabinet, No white man at top positions in Britain’s history
Newly appointed Prime Minister of Britain, Liz Truss, appointed her new Cabinet after a few hours of taking over at ten Downing street.
Liz Truss has rewarded her allies with top portfolios in a significant reshuffle hours after succeeding Boris Johnson as prime minister.
Kwasi Kwarteng is appointed as chancellor, James Cleverly becomes foreign secretary, and Suella Braverman replaces Priti Patel as home secretary.
One of the new PM of Britain’s closest friends, Therese Coffey, is appointed as health secretary and deputy PM.
Liz Truss’s Cabinet will meet later during the questioning session.
None of those who backed her conquered rival, Rishi Sunak, will remain in her entire Cabinet, with Dominic Raab, Grant Shapps, George Eustice and Steve Barclay returning to the backbenches.

Liz Tuss’s press secretary pointed towards senior roles for five of her leadership rivals, including Suella Braverman, Tom Tugendhat as security minister, Kemi Badenoch as trade secretary, Penny Mordaunt as leader of the Commons, and Nadhim Zahawi as chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster. According to Liz Tuss’s press secretary, these changes in the Cabinet will unify the Tory Party.
For the first time in Britain’s history, none of the top four great offices of state, including the prime minister, chancellor, home secretary and foreign secretary – is held by a white man.
The new PM of Britain made her first call to a fellow foreign leader, vowing the UK’s continuous support to Ukraine in a call with President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Truss said that she was delighted to accept the invitation to visit Ukraine.
Later, Truss spoke to the President of the United States, Joe Biden, and the duo conferred the significance of the UK reaching an agreement with the EU over post-Brexit trading regulations in Northern Ireland.
