As per reports, the number of Covid related cases is increasing in England and Wales with each passing day; It is noted that the UK has witnessed a 40 per cent rise in the issues in the last few months.
Office for National Statistics (ONS) reveals that around 400 deaths were registered from the last seven days to October 7, per the death certificates.
According to the figures, a sudden surge rose from 39 per cent to 287 the week earlier.
63.5 per cent (254 deaths) had COVID registered as the underlying cause, slightly higher than the week before when it was 63.1%, including 181 deaths.
Office for National Statistics’s (ONS) official Twitter handle tweeted on the social media platform writing a caption wording, “Of the 400 deaths involving #COVID19 in England and Wales in Week 40, 63.5% (254 deaths) had this recorded as the underlying cause of death, slightly higher than Week 39 (63.1%).”
In another caption, the Office for National Statistics tweeted, “The latest data from the #COVID19 Infection Survey shows in the most recent week:Â
- Â infections continued to increase in England and Northern Ireland
- infections increased in Wales Â
- the trend was uncertain in Scotland.”
The increase in the cases of Covid 19 has signified the ongoing alarming situation in the United Kingdom, though numbers have yet to match those seen during this year’s summer wave.
High levels of COVID antibodies due to vaccinations signify that the number of people becoming seriously ill or dying has dropped.
Data published in the coming weeks will confirm if the latest numbers signal a steady upward trend.
Figures published last week by the ONS showed that COVID-19 infections continue to rise in England and Wales.
