The mother of two died in a house fire after one of the children set a toy on fire. Chloe Doggett was a twenty-eight-year-old and died on the third day of rescue from a house fire.
Assistant coroner Gaynor Kynaston concluded that a Child playing in another room used a lighter to lit a cuddly toy which set the house on fire. Accidental death happened due to brain injury as Doggett was the only one in the other room and could not escape it.
Emma Doggett, the deceased’s mother, said that Chloe was a very bubbly daughter. She could never see anyone in trouble. She suffered a lot with her children but was always kind towards people.
In addition, Doggett said that Chloe was a great child. Her childhood was spent in Swindon; before her death, she lived in Ystradgynlais with her two children.
Emma clarified that during her secondary school, Chloe was under a bad influence. She was disobedient to her so many times. Chloe was a famous child and had a lot of friends.
Chloe Doggett moved to South Wales after having two children from different relationships. She spent time working in Argos and was a florist as well. Doggett learned painting and decorating from Neath Port Talbot College.
Doggett was alcoholic and drug addicted at a higher pace, said the deceased’s mother in her court statement. In addition, Chloe’s mother declared that her daughter admitted that she was struggling to sleep at night and used cocaine to sleep.
Emergency services said they received calls from people outside the house at 4.37 pm on the day of the fire. Those fire reports came when Ms Doggett started a video call with a friend.
DC Rees said it was a “hugely chaotic” incident in which the fire spread “extremely quickly” with no working fire alarms on the property, said Detective constable Joel Rees South, Wales Police.
