Scotland, United Kingdom: The Scottish Conservative Party Politician and Member of Parliament for South Scotland, Sharon Dowey, recently visited the much-anticipated Beattie Close, the latest architectural gem by Ayrshire Housing Association.
Reportedly, the latest architectural gym, Beattie Close, is set to be completed in October 2023. This impressive block of flats on Carrick Street will soon provide 31 lifetime homes in the heart of Ayr’s bustling town centre, offering views of The Gaiety Theatre and Ayr.
Last year marked a significant chapter in Ayrshire’s housing history as the Ayrshire Housing Association collaborated with The Gaiety to engage the community in a naming endeavour for the new housing complex.
The call went out to the Ayr community, urging them to submit creative and theatrical names reflecting the development’s essence. Over 100 enthusiastic entries poured in, each one showcasing the town’s rich artistic heritage.
After an exhaustive selection process, these numerous suggestions were meticulously whittled down to just five final contenders.
In a culmination of shared enthusiasm and appreciation for Ayr’s theatrical legacy, the public wholeheartedly voted to christen the new tower as “Beattie Close,” a fitting homage to the late Johnny Beattie.
Another exciting development is on the horizon for The Gaiety Theatre, as Maureen Beattie, distinguished in her own right, is set to become its patron. This announcement further strengthens the bond between the theatre and the Ayr community.
The anticipation surrounding the formal inauguration of Beattie Close on Carrick Street grows with each passing day. It’s poised to be a testament to Ayr’s historical connection to the performing arts world.
As the project nears completion, the town’s enthusiasm continues to mount, marking yet another milestone in Ayr’s housing and cultural landscape.
