Dominica’s Prime Minister, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, recently addressed the crowd on launching a new candidate of the Labour Party from the St Joseph constituency named Darron Lloyd on Sunday, 20, 2022.
PM Roosevelt Skerrit added that UWP summoned all 70,000 residents to the Bayfront and 324 persons showed up. These are the facts. They spent the previous two weeks making their arguments and other submissions, and the people of Dominica handed down their verdict on Thursday evening. The people of Dominica said a loud and resounding “NO” to the United Workers Party and its associates.

The launch event witnessed a gathering of a massive crowd of DLP supporters across the country.
Coincidentally, the launch ceremony of the new candidate of the Labour Party, Darron Llyod, fell on the same day as the candidate’s 27th birthday.
The huge launch event of the new member of the Labour Party was held at St Joseph’s Playing Field on November 20 2022, Sunday.
Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit, while addressing the DLP supporters during the event, added that he is looking forward to December 6, when the final vote will be counted and the winner of the 2022 general elections will be declared.

During the event, PM Skerrit assured the people that Dominica Labour Party is still the best choice for Dominica.
While slamming the opposition, PM added that it is not his and other party candidates’ fault that voters will be deprived of choice because the opponent chose not to send any candidates other five constituencies.
PM, during his address speech, said that the six constituencies are among the most powerful bastions of Labour in Dominica, and there is nothing new that even if the United Workers Party had challenged those six seats, the Labour Party would have obtained a minimum of 70 per cent of the popular vote in each riding.
Dr Roosevelt Skerrit pointed out the fact that despite not making compulsory of voter ID cards across the country, the government and authorities of the nation are still working days and nights to ensure corruption-free and smooth government procedures.
PM added that many developed countries, such as the United States of America and the United Kingdom, are still conducting free and fair elections without making Voter ID cards mandatory.
In a statement, PM Skerrit added, “So let us cut out this nonsense about Dominica having a voting system that no other country in the world has.”
In addition, he said, “The United States or Great Britain do not have any Voter ID cards! Are they talking about non-resident Dominicans being eligible to vote? Non-resident Antiguans vote! Non-resident Kittitians vote! So why are they telling the world that something obtains in Dominica that does not obtain anywhere in the world?”
In an address speech, the PM of the Commonwealth of Dominica criticised the opponents by saying that he had caught them red-handed with no policies and programmes for their party.
He said that opponents have no money to run a campaign; After three years of the last general elections, they have no political leader, so opponents could not submit Nomination Papers on November 18.
