British Defense Secretary Grant Shapps announced a new military aid package for Ukraine worth more than £100 million (over €115 million) on Wednesday, October 11, 2023.
A new military support package worth over £100m ($122 million) would help Ukraine’s forces clear minefields, repair its vehicles, and shore up defensive fortifications to protect critical national infrastructure.
The new aid package includes funds for demining, equipment maintenance, and defence strengthening to protect critical Ukrainian infrastructure.
Shapps announced that the support package would be provided through the International Fund for Ukraine (IFU) at a Ukraine Defense Contact Group meeting at NATO headquarters in Brussels.
This will follow the signing of a new contract for the previously announced Air Defense Systems package, which will provide Ukraine with more than 70 million pounds (over 81 million euros) worth of air defence equipment, including the MSI-DS Terrahawk Paladin, a platform capable of tracking and destroying drones and protecting critical infrastructure.
During his recent visit to Kyiv, the defence minister assured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that the United Kingdom remains committed to supporting Ukraine and its most urgent needs.
“Today, I am proud to announce that Britain, along with our allies, is delivering on that promise by signing new contracts to supply Ukraine with crucial air defence systems to protect civilians from Putin’s barbaric bombardment,” Shapps said.

According to the media, the United States of America will allocate another package of military aid to Ukraine for 200 million dollars. This is expected to be announced on Wednesday, October 11.
In particular, this package will include short-range AIM-9 Sidewinder air-to-air missiles. The United States will also transfer artillery ammunition for highly mobile artillery rocket systems (HIMARS), TOW anti-tank missiles, and 155-mm and 105-mm shells to the Armed Forces.
