British Conservative Party Politician and Member of Parliament for High Peak in the United Kingdom expressed concern over the High Peak Halls being converted into a large-scale asylum dispersal centre after the University of Derby has formally submitted an application to high peak Borough Council and uploaded his survey reports over its opposition.
British Conservative Party Politician and Member of Parliament for High Peak in the United Kingdom, Robert Largan, to express his concern and inform people about opposition made to Asylum dispersal Centers in Buxton by the High Peak constituents over converting High Peak Halls into them after the University of Derby has formally submitted an application to high peak Borough Council.
Meanwhile, MP Robert Largan has also shared that the Conservative Councillors have requested that the application be brought before elected councillors for a decision instead of being rubber-stamped.
MP Robert Largan has further informed that thousands of people have filled in his recent survey, who showed their opposition over the issue and shared that the results so far are overwhelming:
As per the update, 88% of respondents oppose the asylum dispersal centre in Buxton, 92% support the Government’s plan to tackle illegal migration, and about 91% agree that people entering the UK illegally from safe countries like Albania and France should be unable to claim asylum here.
For the overall result, MP Robert Largan shared, “I’ll be publishing the full effects of the survey very soon and letting you all know how you can continue to support the campaign.
In the meantime, I continue working with local people to get the correct result for High Peak.”
After getting massive support from the High Peak district constituents, MP Largan shared that he doesn’t just want to stop the University’s plans for an asylum dispersal centre. He wants to see High Peak Halls used positively to help local people.
He also shared that he will push for High Peak Halls to be converted into badly needed affordable homes for local people. Also, he added that this option might be less lucrative for the University, and the Labour Council will need to step up. But it is the right way forward for the High Peak.
