Unseasonal cold weather is sweeping across much of New South Wales, South Australia, Victoria, Tasmania and southern parts of Queensland today, bringing cold temperatures, widespread showers, minor hail, thunderstorms and strong and gusty winds.

While Hurricane Ian is not a classical-looking hurricane, as the NHC is saying, "Ian continues to display hybrid tropical/extratropical characteristics, and the satellite appearance is increasingly taking on the pattern of an occluded low"

The Met Office of Britain has issued its first-ever "red" warning for very high temperatures, stating that early next week's record high temperatures will put even healthy individuals in danger of severe sickness and death.
