The prime minister and Minister of Health of the Federation of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew, is working consistently with the Ministry to improve the healthcare delivery in the island nation. A number of issues have been identified in the health sector of the country which needs immediate addressing.
The Ministry of Health, under the directives of Dr Drew, has witnessed many positive changes in the services being delivered since the new administration came to power and started overlooking the sector. In a brief media address, PM Terrance Drew recently discussed the changes implemented in the health sector in recent months.
The health ministry has been empathic towards the sector and is accommodating all the positive changes the new government has executed. Furthermore, the Ministry has also claimed that they would allow the changes that have been put in place by the officials.
Sharon Archibald, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health, has also talked with the media about the health sector’s advancement and modernization, which will ultimately boost the nation as a whole. She stated that a stable health sector and transformation in it must take place simultaneously.
According to Archibald, stabilizing the health sector will ensure that people can continue to get easy access to quality healthcare and better services. On the other hand, PM Terrance Drew also talked about the construction of the new hospital in the Federation.
PM Terrance Drew said constructing a new hospital is not a choice but necessary in St Kitts and Nevis. He added that the country requires a smart hospital that will be well equipped with the best technology and climate-conscious.
He also highlighted that several other infrastructures need upgradation in order to prevent natural disasters. He said that the cost of upgradation would almost approach the costs of the new hospital in the country, and the new hospital would serve the people better.
