Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew is all set to host an influential dialogue named “Transformation of Sustainable Island State”. It is a Budget Conversation with the nation’s Youth, which will take place on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at the St Kitts Marriot Resort.
As per the update, this dialogue will highly focus on the Youth’s participation in the governmental discussions and decision-making processes. This dialogue would be a part of a series of Budget Meetings for the Budget discussion to be held in December 2024.
Another key focus of this session would be on making St Kitts and Nevis a Sustainable Island State Agenda. This Agenda would primarily be based on its seven pillars and ensuring the youth of St Kitts and Nevis have access to a proper Sustainable environment and socio-economic conditions.
The focused pillars of the Sustainable Island State Agenda are to ensure water and food security, transition to sustainable energy and industry, promote sustainable settlements and a circular economy, and provide robust social protection to all citizens.
Apart from benefitting the youth and the nation, this budget conversation seeks to facilitate an environment where young voices are heard, respected, and incorporated into the national policy-making and implementation processes.
The “Transformation of Sustainable Island State” budget conversation would also serve to encourage the Youth and create a sense of ownership and participation in the Nation’s Developing Processes.
While emphasising this session’s aim, Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew stressed providing and facilitating the Youth by fulfilling all their necessities and creating an effective gateway towards the nation’s sustainability.
“In navigating the journey towards sustainability, harnessing the innovation, passion, and energy of our Youth is indispensable. Their insights and perspectives are vital in constructing a resilient, inclusive, and prosperous future,” he added.
