Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit of Dominica announced the upcoming Caribbean Digital Transformation Project on February 6, 2023, and encouraged the youth to take part in the Digital Literacy Skills Training. The Prime Minister mentioned that the project would provide numerous job opportunities for the young people of Dominica.
The Dominican Youth Development Division has taken a step forward to empower the people of Dominica with digital literacy skills. The free training program, which will take place at various locations throughout the country, aims to help individuals of all ages to develop their digital skills, regardless of their prior experience.
The program will focus on several key areas of ICT, including the use of presentation software, spreadsheet software, and word processing software. Participants will learn how to use these tools to increase their productivity and efficiency in the workplace. They will be able to enter, edit and organise data, create professional documents, and prepare presentations.
The training will also cover the best approach to using Information Technology tools, and participants will learn how to determine which ICT tools best suit their work tasks. Additionally, the program will provide participants with an understanding of Information Technology security, helping them to keep their data safe and secure.
The training sessions will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM starting on February 7th, 2023. The sessions will be interactive and interesting, making learning fun and easy for everyone. With experienced trainers and a focus on hands-on training, participants will be able to apply their newly acquired skills in the workplace immediately.
Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit invites youth and believes that this training will provide youth with the digital skills they need to become employable in today’s job market. The Dominican government recognises the need for digital literacy and offers free digital literacy training to the people, regardless of their financial situation. This training is not just limited to students or young people but is open to anyone interested in acquiring these skills.
