The United Kingdom’s leading child healthcare Centre, Leeds Children’s Hospital, recently organised the Leeds Bear Hunt Parade for bears through its Centres on Sunday, September 17, 2023. The Leeds Bear Hunt was scheduled to represent the bear hunting and fundraising for Leeds.
During the Leeds Bear Hunt Parade on Sunday, Thirty-five giant bears were seen parading through the centre of Leeds. There were also some fantastic pictures from the Leeds Bear Hunt parade of bears through the centre of Leeds on Sunday.
The parade signalled the end of a tremendous summer of bear hunting and fundraising for Leeds Children’s Hospital with Leeds Hospitals Charity.
A brass band led this parade (in true Yorkshire style ). Bears were pushed along by their sponsors and joined by the families of patients whose stories have been shared as part of the trail this summer.
Bear enthusiasts: Laura Whelan (Head of Nursing), Colin Holton (Clinical Director), Liz Evans (Deputy Clinical Director) and Lisa Beaumont (Play Team Manager) helped to lead the parade, representing colleagues from across Leeds Children’s Hospital.
The Head of Nursing, Laura Whelan, extended her pleasure to participate in the parade. She said:
‘What an event! It’s been such a spectacle to watch these beautiful bears make their way through the city, and it’s been brilliant to see everyone’s reaction and how much the bears mean to the city…
…we’re so pleased to be joined by some of our patients whose stories have been a massive part of the trail. Their stories and challenges have given the trail a real depth that people have engaged with.
Fundraising is so essential for the hospital, and through the bear hunt, I think people have been inspired to support.’
Reportedly, There’s still time to get involved with Leeds Bear Hunt and support fundraising for Leeds Children’s Hospital at the Farewell Weekend and the auction.
