UK Trade Partnerships Programme beneficiaries from Phase I showcased their products, including high-quality ginger treats and beauty products, which guests were able to sample. UKTP has supported an industry-wide revival in the ginger sector through access to finance, increased productivity and higher incomes along the agricultural value chain.

About the Programme:

  • During the first two years, the UKTP supported approximately 1,000 factory workers, ginger farm owners, and seasonal labourers.
  • Increased employment and incomes, with farm gate prices rising by 60%
  • The Programme worked with farmers to upskill, geo-mapped farms and supported farmers in accessing loans through the Fiji Development Bank.

Team SweetSip was grateful to be part of the UK Trade Partnerships Programme (Phase II) launch at the British High Commission, Suva, UK, in the South Pacific. During the event, they showcased their small business as well as launched the new Ginger Flavoured rolled ice cream.

“We look forward to more opportunities and platforms such as these for our small business to progress further,” outlined Team SweetSip.

Earlier this week, the Embassy was delighted to introduce Sophie Waters UK in the South Pacific’s new Defence Adviser to Fiji, Tonga and Vanuatu. Sophie has worked with Fijian soldiers throughout her career in the British Army and greatly respects this wonderful nation and its people.

Sophie has done Operational Tours in Iraq, Afghanistan, and West Africa and has specialised in language, culture and Defence Engagement. She has been here for three years with her family and has twins aged two and a 6-year-old who are settling in well.
