London: On Wednesday, the Defence Ministry of the United Kingdom declared while attending the meeting with NATO defence chiefs that it would assist Ukraine with high-velocity anti-aircraft missile system Starstreak and other military aid.

The UK Defence Ministers agreed to facilitate Ukraine with military supplies, including lethal and non-lethal aid.

The UK Defence Secretary, Ben Wallace highlighted that the country would be applying the Starstreak; this high-velocity anti-aircraft missile system will enhance the quality of the other military aid provided by the UK Armed Forces, including over 4,000 anti-tank missiles.

Further, Wallace stated that the UK and allies would back Ukraine amid Russian military operation.

The UK’s Defence Ministry added that it has recently increased the troops in Estonia and sent the patrolling vessels HMS Trent (HMS Trent is a Batch 2 River-class offshore patrol vessel).

IN THE EASTERN MEDITERRANEAN, the UK supplies the air-defence destroyer HMS Diamond (the third ship of Type 45 or Daring-class air-defence destroyers built for the Royal Navy) instructed joint air policing missions in Romanian Polish airspace to strengthen its commitments in Eastern Europe.

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine took place on February 24, 2022, when the Donbas republics “appealed for help” to defend themselves against Ukrainian forces. Western countries have launched a massive sanctions campaign against Moscow in response.

Britain’s Prime Minister Boris Johnson said the UK would continue to pursue its efforts to bolster Ukraine’s self-defence; he also praised the country’s citizens for their fortitude among Ukrainian refugees.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukraine’s president, thanked UK’s PM for his statement that the country would “continue to stand behind Ukraine in all their efforts to end this disastrous conflict”.

Mr Johnson is preparing for meetings with foreign leaders this week as he seeks to strengthen European resilience in the face of Russia’s invasion.
