Twenty-six million people are eligible for booster doses, whereas according to Moderna, 13 million of its new vaccines will be available within this year.

Health officials advised that people should get whichever booster dose is available, as both do a brilliant job.

The original vaccines were designed to tackle the virus, which first emerged in Wuhan, China, at the end of 2019.

People who are already vaccinated are not entirely immune to emerging virus variants worldwide. The new variants have large surges in cases around the world.

The original vaccines designed earlier protect against dangerous illnesses and death due to viruses, but all the companies are trying to tweak around as the virus evolves.

In July 2022, the cases of COVID19 started rising, and around 2.5 million people tested positive. But in August, cases of coronavirus are currently falling.

Spikevax, the latest vaccine by Moderna, targets both the original strain and the omicron variant known as BA.1, which was found last winter. The vaccine aims to treat two forms of Covid, known as bivalent.

Approval was given by The UK’s Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency and ratified to use for by adults.

“The bivalent vaccine gives us a sharpened tool in our armoury to help protect us against this disease as the virus continues to evolve”, said Dr June Raine.

The vaccine has experimented on 437 people, which showed that the vaccine is safe to use and can immune people from new variants.

Antibodies which were able to stick around are 1.7 times higher in the people given the new vaccine called bivalent.
