Since the early days of the pandemic, researchers have been continuously looking for the animal-to-human transmission of COVID-19. The cats can spread infectious viral particles found in the studies conducted during the early period of the pandemic.

The reports also say that in the majority of the nations during the pandemic, cats were infected with the infection. But the virus spread from cats to humans, and vice versa, was not established until now.

Moreover, the experts consider the Thailand study an example of good contact tracing, which has established an already apprehended phenomenon. The health experts believe that the results that are reported are convincing.

However, it is surprising that it took a long time to establish it as the infection has the ability to jump from other species to human beings as well as pet cats as well as humans staying close together.

At the Colorado State University, an infectious disease researcher, Angela Bosco-Lauth, mentioned in the statement that the Thailand finding came out, “We’ve known this was a possibility for two years.”

Furthermore, the Thailand findings have an exciting story behind them; they came out accidentally, as per Saurunyou Chusri, a co-author of the study. Chusri is a physician as well as an infectious disease researcher at the Prince of Songkla University in Hat Yai, Thailand.

A father, as well as son duo who has been tested positive for COVID-19 and were kept in an isolation ward, had a ten-year-old pet cat. The cat also tested positive in swabs.

According to the sources, a cat was swabbed, it sneezed on the face of a veterinary doctor, and later on, the doctor also tested positive despite wearing a mask.
