Tesla Model Y performance (MYP) branch in Germany is receiving notice that their deliveries were cancelled or delayed due to defects in some vehicles.
MYP has received cancellation orders from Saturday, June 25, 2022, via TFF Forum. Model Y Performance delivery cancellations began on Saturday. This week, it has been assumed to inform more reservation holders of delivery cancellation.
According to the reports, some reservation holders have claimed that Tesla Germany postponed their Model Y deliveries due to some of the security-related defects, which are likely to be fixed through a software update. On the other hand, lateral reservation holders have claimed that Tesla cancelled their delivery due to defective drive units from China.
Employees working at Tesla Germany has informed that only some Model Y vehicles are affected by the defects. A small amount of the MYP reservation holders have already received their cars. The flaw does not seem to affect Model Y Long Range vehicles or deliveries. Tesla Giga Shanghai produces a Long Range of vehicles delivered in Germany.
Tesla Germany will likely reschedule most of the cancelled Model Y Performance deliveries in the middle of July. Moreover, some MYP reservation holders already received delivery dates by the end of the year between August to November 2022. Some reservation holders reported that Tesla’s new delivery dates might depend on their location.
According to the reports, Tesla Giga Berlin has begun to produce 1,000 vehicles per week this month. Only Model Y vehicles are being manufactured at the moment.
Tesla is working with Germany’s national employment agency to recruit staff. It has hired 4,100 to 4,500 workers for production so far. Tesla started offering new hires more pay recently after Germany’s largest union claimed that Giga Berlin was facing hiring challenges because of its wages.
