St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister and Minister of Health Dr Terrance Drew felt pleased to provide an update regarding two children of St Kitts and Nevis who are presently in the Cayman Islands to receive heart-saving surgery. The update was shared by the PM on his official Facebook account on Tuesday, March 7, 2023.
PM Terrance Drew said that children must not die because their parents or guardians lack financial resources, which demonstrates the government’s assistance towards needy families, especially their children.
The update about both the children was also shared by the Pediatric Assistance League of St Kitts and Nevis, which stated, “Today two of our PALS children (a one-year-old from Nevis and a two-year-old from St Kitts) both travelled overseas to have urgent heart surgeries at Health City in the Cayman Islands. This has been such a challenging time for these two families, and we ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers.”
The authorities of PALS expressed their deepest gratitude to the medical team at Health City Cayman Islands and the Government of St Kitts and Nevis, the Ministry of Health of both the island and the community of PALS donors for their support and financial assistance.
“By working together, we can make a difference in the lives of our sick children,” added the Pediatric Assistance League of St Kitts and Nevis.
During his early months of leadership, PM Drew committed that the island nation’s children who need such medical care would no longer have to depend on a sponsor sheet to get medical and financial help. PM Terrance Drew and his administration have also set up a fund to help the parents of children who are not financially stable and their children are suffering from potentially fatal health issues.
The health ministry of St Kitts and Nevis is committed to providing the best care to all the patients on the island nation.
