St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew visited the National Emergency Management Agency SKN (NEMA). He also shared a weather update on the Hurricane in St Kitts and Nevis after the situation had been under control Yesterday, October 22, 2023.
He also extended his pleasure and thanked team NEMA for their continued work to address the weather situation of St Kitts and Nevis.
Prime Minister Dr Terrance took to his official social media handle yesterday to share an update on Tropical Storms.
He shared that the hurricane warning will be discontinued as of 8 PM, as there is no longer the risk of sustained tropical storm force winds for St. Kitts and Nevis.
Prime Minister Dr Terrance extended his pleasure and thanked the NEMA team involved for their commitment to working together, diligence, and dedication.
He also extended his support to the people in other territories. “We extend our support to our brothers and sisters in the other territories.
Let’s continue to be safe!” He asserted.
Following the Update, Prime Minister Dr Terrance also shared another update about Acting on the advice of the Management of the NEOC, the Government has issued an official all-clear notice as of 7:00 AM today.
He urged people to be thankful to the god for sparing them. He also thanked NEMA – National Emergency Management Agency SKN and all involved In the preparations.
Reportedly, the National Emergency Management Agency is St Kitts and Nevis’s leading disaster management agency. It is responsible for undertaking several initiatives and coordination against weather disasters.
As of the Current ongoing scenarios, NEMA has been managing eight districts in St Kitts and Nevis. The district teams are volunteer-based, with NEMA providing oversight through its District Coordinating Unit. The District Volunteers function around the Disaster Management Cycle.
They do regular walk-throughs within their districts and report issues to the agency for NEMA to act. They also ensure that they remain familiar with persons within their communities.
