St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew felt pleasured to attend the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) Ministerial Meeting for Caribbean Countries at Hyatt Park, St Kitts and Nevis.
The Government of St Kitts and Nevis hosted the Meeting. It was chaired by the Attorney General Garth Wilkin. The WIPO Meeting is aimed at translating Caribbean innovation and creativity into sustainable economic prosperity.
Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew emphasised the role of meetings in enhancing the Caribbean nations. He also highlighted the efforts of the Government of St Kitts and Nevis to host the meeting.
He underlined, “A region so rich in culture, talent, and innovation must ensure that every effort is made to protect and professionalise the creative expressions and output of its people.”
Further, Prime Minister Dr Terrance remarked on the Government’s effort to ensure creativity and innovation in the region.
“The Government of St. Kitts and Nevis is grateful to WIPO for their longstanding support and collaboration towards ensuring that creativity and innovation can thrive in our region. These are the foundational blocks on which all industry is built,” he added.
Prime Minister Dr Terrance and Attorney General Garth Wilkin opened the Brief welcoming Ceremony.
The Attorney General and Minister of Justice and Legal Affairs of St Kitts and Nevis, Garth Wilkin, addressed the Meeting and emphasised the Government’s strategy to bolster the Sports Industry. He recognised the role of Intellectual Property in facilitating sports and the Government’s investment in National Development.
Minister Garth also said the Federation has set the stage for groundbreaking innovation, economic advancement, and heightened global stature.
He extended his pleasure and thanked all the members of WIPO, including the director of meetings, General Daren Tang, for his philosophy behind the meeting, “our people are our most important resource.”
