St Kitts and Nevis: Former Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Economic Development and Investment Denzil Douglas participated in the Caribbean Investment Forum (CIF2023) held on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, in Nassau, Bahamas.
The CIF is a transformative platform to shape the future of Caribbean trade and investment. The CIF 2023 Forum featured key leaders, innovative presentations, and a vision for a bold new Caribbean from all the Caribbean Nations.
Minister Denzil Douglas got to represent his nation during the CIF 2023 event. On his presentation on Day 2 of the event, he highlighted the uniqueness and challenges of Small Islands Developing States in the global FDI market.
He emphasized the need for closer collaboration and greater investment in the region’s human capital in its approach to attracting a greater share of the global FDI.
Minister Douglas also highlighted some of the successful policies and initiatives that contributed to a significant increase in FDI inflows into St. Kitts and Nevis, as the country successfully transitioned from a sugar-based economy to one now underpinned by tourism, services, ICT, and the country’s CBI programme.
The 2023 Forum is a high-level investment attraction platform designed to allow investors from all corners of the globe to explore the range of bankable investment projects available across the Caribbean.
Reportedly, Over the three days of the conference, more than 600 delegates are expected to hear from industry experts, key decision-makers and stakeholders on opportunities available in key sectors.
The opportunities were the Caribbean transition to a Green-er, Smart-er regions, such as Agri-Tech, Renewable Energy, ICT, FinTech and Digital Business, Infrastructure and more.
This forum was based on providing business opportunities and insights to the Caribbeans. The delegates had the chance to gather to share insights, learn from the best, and make game-changing deals that will help shape a Bold New Caribbean.
