St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew marked World Mental Health Day on Sunday, October 10, 2023. He also emphasized reaffirming his commitment to breaking the stigma surrounding mental health and prioritising the well-being of every individual.
Prime Minister Dr Terrance highlighted mental health as equally important as physical health. He encouraged everyone to open themselves and create a comfortable environment to rely on each other mentally and emotionally.
Prime Minister Ernest, while marking World Mental Health Day, on his official social media handle on Sunday, added, “Today we celebrate World Mental Health Day. Let us reaffirm our commitment to breaking the stigma surrounding mental health and prioritizing the well-being of every individual.”
“Mental health is just as important as physical health. Let’s encourage open conversations, support, and create environments where everyone can thrive mentally and emotionally.”
Further, he also stressed treating one’s mental health with care and empathy. “Together, we can build a world where mental health is treated with the same care and compassion as any other aspect of our health,” he asserted.
The Prime Minister also shared a green poster on World Mental Health Day on his official Facebook handle, urging people to wear green. He encouraged people to join them in expressing solidarity and advocacy.
Underscoring the significance of World Mental as a universal right for every individual, Yesterday, October 11, 2023, a team from Central Basseterre took up the mantle on behalf of the parliamentary representative for Constituency #2 Central Basseterre, Marsha Henderson.
They visited two crucial institutions – the Medical Health Day Treatment Center and the Psychiatric Ward at JNF General Hospital.
Their mission was to raise awareness and present a token of solidarity, ensuring those battling mental health challenges know they are not alone.
