The east of the city Llanederyn Primary, Glan Yr Afon, Bryn Hafod, St Bernadettes, Hollies, Pen Y Groes, Bryn Celyn and Berllan Deg witnessed a burst of water, which affected the schools across the region, leading to the closing of the schools.

As per the information shared by the Facebook page of Cardiff Council, the organization added, “Due to a burst water main affecting the east of the city Llanederyn Primary, Glan Yr Afon, Bryn Hafod, St Bernadettes, Hollies, Pen Y Groes, Bryn Celyn and Berllan Deg schools are closed today.”

Cardiff Council added that there is no running water in the schools, and they are therefore unable to provide working toilets, heating, hygiene or catering facilities.

Welsh Water have teams on site working to fix the issue and is aware that some properties in the CF23 postcode area are experiencing low water pressure or, in some instances, have no water.

The council’s Highways Emergency Engineer received a call around 5:30 am advising that two properties in Roundwood were in danger of flooding. Council immediately sent out an officer with sandbags to help protect the properties.

Dwr Cymru Welsh Water recently shared an update on Facebook, captioning, “We are currently dealing with a burst water main in the Llanedyrn area of Cardiff. As a result, we are aware that some properties in the CF23 postcode are either experiencing low water pressure or no water. Our teams are on-site, and we are currently investigating. Please keep an eye on our website and social media for further updates. Many thanks for your help and patience.”
