Saint Lucia: Prime Minister Philip J Philip warmly welcomed Roger Nyhus, the newly appointed US Ambassador to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, during a courtesy call on Thursday.
During the visit, Both of them reaffirmed their commitment to work together for the development of their region and looked forward to strengthening their diplomatic relations.
In an official Facebook post on Thursday, PM Pierre shared a picture of his meeting with Ambassador Nyhus and said, “Saint Lucia and the United States of America continue to enjoy strong diplomatic relations”.
“I welcomed H.E. Roger Nyhus, the US Ambassador to the OECS and Barbados, during a courtesy call where we affirmed our commitment to working together, particularly on issues of building climate resilience, citizen security and economic development. I look forward to strengthening our relationship for the benefit of our people,” he added.
Notably, The visit provided an opportunity for PM Pierre and the US Ambassador to engage in discussion on active cooperation agreements and explore opportunities for collaboration on additional areas of mutual interest.
The newly appointed US Ambassador Roger Nyhus assumed his office on January 11, 2024. He is the Ambassador to several nations, including St Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Antigua and Barbuda, the Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
Prior to his appointment, he worked for the promotion of various American companies in different sectors relevant to the Eastern Caribbean. Nyhus has also worked in multiple other fields and has been bringing all his previous experiences to his role as an Ambassador.
He worked for sustainability, energy, aviation, tourism, global health care, seafood and arts. He was the founder and CEO of his own Nyhus Communications, a Seattle-based communication, advocacy and marketing consultant.
