Castries, Saint Lucia: The Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Philip J. Pierre has headed to Barbados for an official visit on December 29, 2022. During his visit, PM Pierre will be meeting H.E Linda S. Taglialatela, the United States Ambassador to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, along with the officials of the Regional Security System(RSS) to discuss the potential opportunities that may provide additional support and required assistance to the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force(RSLPF).
While attending the meeting with the U.S. official H.E. Taglialatela and her team and the RSS members, the Saint Lucian PM will be participating in a series of high-level discussions and consultations regarding measures to combat the crime rates.
Additionally, the PM will discuss security assistance to develop and build on workable crime-fighting strategies both at the policy as well as tactical levels that aim to preserve citizen safety and extricate criminal elements from the island’s peaceful communities and neighbourhoods.
Prime Minister Pierre will continue to actively pursue viable crime reduction solutions with the domestic, regional, and international stakeholders and partners to facilitate the mobilisation and deployment of resources to the RSLPF.
The United States of America has been a strategic hemispheric ally and development partner to Saint Lucia. The Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Philip J Pierre, is actively working on extending cooperation in areas where the United States shares common interests to develop and implement mutually beneficial trade and security policies in the interest of the citizens of the country.
Deputy Prime Minister Ernest Hillaire will be the acting Prime Minister until December 30, 2022.
