Saint Lucia: PM Philip J Pierre, Ernest Hilaire extend wishes on Easter

Castries, Saint Lucia: Prime Minister of Saint Lucia- Philip J Pierre and Deputy Prime Minister- Ernest Hilaire extended wishes and blessings on Easter with heartfelt notes on Sunday, April 9, 2023.

PM Pierre took to Facebook and noted, “My brothers and sisters, today we commemorate the resurrection of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. It is a day of hope and renewal, a day that reminds us of the power of love and forgiveness.”

He said that, however, as everyone celebrates this sacred day, they are reminded once again of the devastating impact of gun violence on their communities. PM Philip J Pierre said that his heart goes out to the families and loved ones of those who were killed during last night’s heart-aching homicides. Their pain is unimaginable, and they are in their thoughts and prayers.

While inviting people to address the issue of violence and homicides, PM Pierre said that as they mourn this tragedy, they must not cower to these monsters. They must come together as a nation to address these senseless reprisal killings. They do not bring justice or resolution to any situation, but instead, they cause more pain and suffering for all involved.

“I urge you to work with the police and local organisations to share information that will keep our communities safe. To our law enforcement officers, our medical professionals, and support staff, thank you for your steadfast and diligent service, “said the prime minister while stressing on maintenance of peace and harmony in the country.

On this resurrection Sunday, he asked people to remember the power of love and forgiveness and to commit themselves to create a safer and more peaceful country for all. While extending wishes, PM Pierre added, “Have a safe and Happy Easter.”

Along with that, Ernest Hilaire- Deputy Prime Minister, also wished people on Easter Day and said, “John 6:40: “For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.”

Ernest Hilaire said that he is risen and all who believe in him will be saved. As they reflect on this Easter Sunday, Ernest Hilaire asked people to remember Jesus Christ, who was sacrificed for the forgiveness of their sins.

“We are saved because of Him, so let us believe in one another and love and protect our neighbour,” said the deputy prime minister.

Besides this, he also extended wishes on Good Friday and said that as they reflect on the meaning of Good Friday in their lives, there is no better scripture to help them in their meditation.
