Prime Minister Phillip J Pierre expressed his happiness over opening the Youth Economy Agency in Saint Lucia on 27 Chaussee Road.

Philip Pierre recently took to his social media to inform about the opening of Youth Economy Agency Saint Lucia on 27 Chaussee Road. The Prime Minister also announced providing unique space through the Youth Economy Agency Saint Lucia to the Young people of Saint Lucia, ages between 18-35 years. He informs about providing training, mentorship and grant loan financing to new and existing entrepreneurs.

The Prime Minister also shared some of the glimpses from the opening of The Youth Economy Agency Saint Lucia, which took place on 27 Chaussee Road, on his social media handle on Tuesday, April 4, 2023.

Reportedly, The Youth Economy Agency of Saint Lucia was set up to provide young people with access to economic space to work on their skills and to turn their skills and hobbies into entrepreneurs and businesses.

The Youth Economy Agency of Saint Lucia provides opportunities to young people for their business growth. Also, it includes state resources for young people for their sustainable livelihoods through business development, finance and marketing support, and training and mentorship.

The Saint Lucia Youth Economy aims to attract and unite rural youth and urban, at-risk youth who must have confidence in their ideas to become independent and sustainable entrepreneurs.

The Functions and Responsibilities of the Youth Economy Agency are as follows:

Capacity Building: this provides an avenue for young people with special interests in economic activities such as sports, music, cultural activities, digital economy, agriculture and blue economy.

Creating Opportunities: this Provides the necessary stimulus and opportunities for young people to achieve their dreams.

Awarding of Grants and loans: Cater to young risk-takers and provides venture capital facilities and grants loans for workable projects

Business support services: Create a new enterprise culture and reduce the constraints that young people face in accessing credit and finance and the availability of support services
