Saint Lucia: The Deputy Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Ernest Hilaire, highlighted some of the achievements of the government during the last 18 months and expressed his gratitude to all the constituents for allowing him to represent them and supporting him throughout the whole journey.
He also thanked the staff of the Ministry of Tourism, Investment, Creative Industries, Culture and Information, Board and Staff of CIP, ISL, CDF, SLTA and ECSL.
The achievements of the government were highlighted by Deputy PM Ernest Hilaire while wrapping up the debate on the Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure for 2023/24. The Saint Lucia Labour Party has implemented several significant changes in the island nation, which are as follows:
– Increase Back to School Support
– Immediate availability of Food Vouchers
– Paid School Fees
– Subsidise flour to maintain the price of bread
– Subsidise fuel
– Reinstated the one laptop per child
– FLOW bundles for households
– Restored the distress fund
– Started the One Scholarship per household with over 200 granted
– Launched the Community Tourism Program
– Launched the Youth Economy
– Launched the MSME Loan-Grant Facility
– Increased support to the Police
– Backpay for Civil Servants
Minister Ernest Hilaire added that this is only the start of many more great things to come, including the new Tourism Development Bill that will transform the tourism industry and make it more inclusive for Saint Lucians. “We are putting the people of Saint Lucia first,” highlighted the Minister.
The Minister has always been at the forefront of helping the people of Saint Lucia and implementing such developments and changes which will benefit the country as a whole while benefitting the citizens as individuals. Even during his address of Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure for 2023/24, he vowed to hear the concerns of people around the nation to help resolve them.
