Reports have surfaced alleging that the game ‘New World’ is causing the RTX 3090 to overheat

The largely closed beta of Amazon’s New World MMO started yesterday, and things initially seemed to be better than I expected. As expected, I started to watch some people’s games. Based on his new world breakthrough, Ed seems to like it so far. However, since yesterday, things have become a bit difficult for some people who use RTX 3090 graphics cards. Gamers on several different forums have reported overheating causing GPU failure. Amazon is aware of this problem and has begun to provide some tips to help gamers avoid overheating.

Amazon now says that they “seen no indication of widespread issues with 3090s” during Alpha or Beta testing, but they plan to release a frame limit patch today to reassure Beta players.

On the New World subreddit, EVGA forum, and New World forum, players report GPU overheating issues. Specifically, many players using EVGA’s RTX 3090 report that these cards will not work after playing the New World beta.

“EVGA 3090 FTW3 – ran fine for about 30 mins > black screen game audio still going > fans shot up to 100% right after black screen > hard reset and now no video,” explains one player.

“Yup, FTW3 Ultra. Loud pop, monitors turned off, 100% fan spin – rebooted, red light over power connectors, done,” describes another.

“Booted up the game for the first time, I was on the Brightness calibration screen, and clicking Restore Defaults sent all my fans into overdrive, blasting off to Mars. Screen went black and the video output wouldn’t come back. I hard reset, and the GPU doesn’t turn on anymore, except for the red light of death. Same card! EVGA 3090 FTW3,” said another user.

Although it seems unlikely that drive failures occur so far, gamers of other vendors and models have reported that their GPUs are hot.

Unless there is a clear explanation and a clearer solution, it is best for any 3090 card owner. It is safe and has not yet set sail to the new world. For users with different GPUs, it may also be a good idea to ensure that the frame rate is limited.

You can pay close attention to updates from Amazon in Amazon’s Known Issues thread. Amazon has now announced that it plans to release a patch today that will limit the number of frames per second in the New World menu.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 is the most powerful graphics card you can buy right now, it offers playable 8K gaming performance, as well as amazing 3D rendering and encoding performance. However, this level of power has a high price, and for most people, it is probably not worth the investment.

Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 continues to dominate, despite AMD’s efforts to overcome it. Nvidia’s latest flagship product is equipped with 24GB of GDDR6X RAM behind a huge radiator, which can provide intense gaming and 3D rendering. In fact, it has replaced the two highest performance graphics cards from the previous generation of manufacturers, Nvidia Titan RTX and RTX 2080 Ti.
