United Kingdom: The leader of Worthing Borough Council, Rebecca Cooper, took another step forward this week in her vision for a green Worthing as the town centre taxi rank got fitted with a Living Roof. She also shared a glimpse of the same on her official Facebook account.
The glimpse showed Cabinet Member for the Environment Vicki Wells standing beside the Living Roof. Rebecca Cooper further added that the Roof is full of wildflowers and sedum plants, rich in nectar to support bees, butterflies, birds and other insects and animals on their travels.
It will also positively contribute towards climate resilience by absorbing falling rainwater and capturing polluting air particles. “Together, we can build the greenest, fairest Coastal Town in the UK,” added the leader of Worthing Borough Council.
To ensure that her vision of green Worthing is being fulfilled, she is taking all the necessary steps to make the district council in West Sussex’s county clean and green.
Also, on February 23, 2023, the Worthing Council recently hosted its first Housing Conference, bringing together over 100 people interested in developing green, sustainable homes for the beautiful town.
Rebecca Cooper stated that from council officers to architects, planners to developers, she was delighted to see so many people at the Guildbourne Centre this morning.
“We have an acute shortage of actually affordable housing and increasing numbers of people finding themselves homeless through no fault of their own, so the challenge is on for us to provide this housing as part of our wider community development, making sure that we can all thrive in our beautiful corner of the world,” highlighted the leader as she said that she will be working on all the issues being faced by the people of Worthing.
In the end, she thanked everyone who took part in the Housing Conference and added, “Looking forward to working together to build an innovative, imaginative, fair and green Worthing.”
