August 5,2024, marked the second anniversary of the St Kitts Nevis Labour Party’s (SKNLP) win, on this occasion, Dr Terrance Drew, the National Political Leader and the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, delivered an illuminating speech regarding the outcomes of the government’s work and the further plans.
PM Terrance Drew was truly appreciative to the supporters and members of the SKNLP stressing on the fact that they were able to attain such a historical victory in the elections. Dr Drew opined that this achievement, is not just a political victory that the party has scored but a demonstration of the willingness of the party to chart a better destiny for the country.
Nonetheless, there was tension caused by the recent death of Glenn ‘Ghost’ Phillip, who was a former Minister and parliamentary representative of the constituency, whose achievements in empowering the youth especially in sports was commended.

Those were Phillip’s achievements towards the society, on which he was able to impact the community through promotion of youth needs, ideals, structured programs and infrastructure, and sports.
Summarizing the results of the governance for two years, Dr Drew mentioned the following major achievements of his government. Notable among those were the Independence RESET program which resulted the economic stimulus of EC$45 million regarding the Independence 40 Bonus.
Shedding of poles in aspects of enabling the age-old dream of homeownership to be realized. The administration also spearheaded measures to enhance civil service, as well as the civil servants’ and pensioners’ welfare: an 8% civil servants and pensioners’ salary increase and the implementation of pensions for GAEs.
The branch operating under the government in healthcare included progress such as the appointment of triage officers, constructions in the JNF General Hospital and project start of inaugurating a health city in the country.
Specifically, partnerships in education and relation and improvements on the social security benefits were also discussed by Dr Drew on his verbal show.
For the future, PM Terrance Drew committed himself to further developing the nation’s infrastructure through the construction of smart homes, a new Basseterre High School and other renewable energy projects.
