Prime Minister Terrance Drew and Gleyroy Blanchette, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of National Security, on July 21, had an emergency meeting with the High Command of the Royal St Christopher and the St Kitts and Nevis Police force to discuss issues regarding national security.
The meeting held at the Police Headquarters, Basseterre, was to address the issues of recent upsurge in gun violence. The emergency meeting was an essential one to go through with the prevailing issues of homicides and to frame a resilient tactic to smother this alarming trend.
The Prime Minister condemned the spike in gun crimes as extremely alarming and reiterated that government remains committed to maintaining law and order, which includes guaranteeing a safer society for all the citizens. People of the nation come first, and their safety is the government’s top priority.
“We will provide all the resources available to security forces in order for them to deal with this challenge and save our communities,” said PM Drew.
