Saint Lucia: President of the Republic of Guyana, Dr Irfaan Ali visited Saint Lucia on the prestigious celebrations of the nation’s 45th Independence Anniversary on Wednesday.
Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Philip J Pierre expressed his delight and extended his warm welcome to him as a special guest of the 45th Independence celebrations.
He also highlighted the long-term bilateral relations between the two countries, strengthening diplomatic ties and fostering economic collaboration.
“There was a lot of movement. Saint Lucians went to Guyana and then Guyanese came to Saint Lucia. His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali will speak on Opportunities to Do Business in Guyana,” PM Pierre noted.
Further, During the visit, President Ali also had the opportunity to address an extraordinary Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture luncheon.
He emphasised the “unbreakable” bond between Guyana and Saint Lucia and said the relationship between the two countries transcends the boundaries of trade and economy.
“Many Saint Lucians and Guyanese share the same blood, the same parentage, the same heritage, and that, for me, speaks to a bond that is unbreakable,” he noted.
He also underscored several ways the two countries can expand cooperation and deepen bilateral relations.
President Ali is on a two-day visit to the island at the invitation of Prime Minister Philip Pierre to celebrate Saint Lucia’s 45th Independence Anniversary.
Prime Minister Pierre said that President Ali’s visit added glimmers to their celebration and reaffirmed the enduring friendship and cooperation between the two nations. It also promised new avenues for collaboration and growth.
Notably, The meeting took place on Wednesday at the Financial Center (on the road leading to Point Seraphine) from 3 PM onwards.
The meeting and President Irfaan Ali’s visit provided an opportunity for open dialogue on major developments happening in Guyana and matters of concern to members of the Guyana and Saint Lucia Community.
He also met with several Saint Lucian entrepreneurs and took part in various Independence Activities of the Nation.
