The Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Philip J Pierre, wished people on the auspicious occasion of the nation’s 45th Independence celebration. He also congratulated the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force and Uniformed Groups for demonstrating the splendid display of drills.
In a social media post earlier on Thursday he noted, “Congratulations to the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force and Uniformed Groups for putting on such a spectacular display. The Military Parade is a crowd favorite at Independence, and I was truly honored to be a part of the experience. Happy 45th Independence Anniversary Saint Lucia.”
Moreover, Deputy Prime Minister Ernest Hilaire also wished Saint Lucia its 45th Independence Anniversary on Thursday. He reflected upon the nation’s Independence journey and assured the communities to remain committed to his nation.
He took to his official social media handle to extend a warm message and wished people a prosperous 45th Independence Anniversary. “Happy 45th Independence Anniversary Saint Lucia, Our journey since independence should be a reflection of our resilience as a nation to overcome challenges through unity,” he noted.
Further, he also ensured to work dedicatedly towards creating a prosperous future. “We have taken 45 steps to get here and we must continue the handwork of those before us and create a prosperous environment for tomorrow. Independent since February 22nd, 1979,” he stated.
Notably, this year Saint Lucia is celebrating its 45th Independence Anniversary under the theme, “𝐃𝐨𝐮𝐯𝐚𝐧 𝐀𝐧𝐬𝐚𝐧𝐦; 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐭𝐲.” The theme reflects upon building the nation with unity, resilience, and creativity.
The President of the Republic of Guyana, Irfaan Ali also addressed a Special Joint Sitting of Parliament on February 21 and participated in other official Independence 45 activities on February 22, 2024.
The day of Independence began with the Military Parade at the Soufrière Mini Stadium this morning from 9 AM to 12 PM, followed by an Independence Showcase. Further, a Seafood fest was also organized at the Castries Fisheries Complex.
