Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that the bilateral relationship between India and Australia is defined by mutual trust and respect and goes beyond earlier definitions such as the 3Cs- Commonwealth, Cricket, and Curry, or ‘Democracy, Diaspora, and Dosti’, or even ‘Energy, Economy, and Education’.

He made these remarks while addressing a community gathering in Sydney during his visit to Australia. PM Modi credited the Indian diaspora living in Australia as being instrumental in building this mutual trust and respect between the two countries.

The Prime Minister arrived at the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney with his Australian counterpart Anthony Albanese to a rousing welcome. He spoke about the various linkages that connect India and Australia, including yoga, cricket, tennis, films, and even cooking shows like MasterChef.

He also acknowledged Sameer Pandey for being elected as the Lord Mayor of Parramatta in Australia, which highlights the contributions of the Indian diaspora to Australia’s society and politics.

Anthony Albanese praised the warm reception accorded to PM Modi by the Indian diaspora and the people of Australia. Referring to the enthusiastic response, he humorously compared PM Modi to rock icon Bruce Springsteen, saying that “the last time I saw Bruce Springsteen on this stage, he didn’t get the kind of reception that Prime Minister Modi got.” Albanese welcomed PM Modi to Australia, remarking that it was a pleasure to stand on stage with him and that the warmth and energy of the crowd were second to none.

PM Modi emphasized that the relationship between India and Australia is built on the foundation of mutual trust and respect, which has been fostered and strengthened by the contributions of the Indian diaspora living in Australia. The warm reception and enthusiastic response from the audience reaffirm the strong bonds that connect the two nations.
