Philippine Air Force recognized for remarkable achievements during flag-raising rites

The Philippine Air Force, on April 3, 2023, held its first Flag Raising Ceremony of the month led by the Commanding General, LTGEN STEPHEN P PARREÑO PAF, at the HPAF Quadrangle, Colonel Jesus Villamor Air Base, Pasay City.

During the event, two female officers were recognized for their remarkable accomplishments, bringing pride to the Philippine Air Force. The first recognition was given to MAJ MARITES B FUENTES PAF, who received the prestigious Challenge Coin Award for her excellent leadership during the United Nations Staff Officer Course at Malaysian Peacekeeping Center, Port Dickinson, Malaysia.

The second recognition was given to CPT PORTIA ANGELA PARILLA MC, who secured a third place among ten participating ASEAN countries for her research titled “A workshop for Training in Ear Framework Creation Using Silicone Dental Impression Material: A Surgical Innovation for Training” during the 10th ASEAN Chiefs of Military Medicine Conference.
MAJ FUENTES is currently assigned to the Office of the Commanding General, PAF, while CPT PARILLA is with the Office of the Chief Surgeon Air Force.

LT GEN STEPHEN PARREÑO highly praised the two outstanding lady officers for embodying the principles of Air Force Excellence and for proudly representing the PAF and AFP with their achievements. He also addressed the force during the award ceremony and said words of inspiration to motivate them to work hard in the future.

PARREÑO is a graduate of the CPU Kindergarten 1976, CPU Elementary School 1982, CPU Development High School 1986, as well as studied at the CPU College of Engineering before going to the PMA.

“Congratulations to our fellow airmen on your well-deserved recognition,” the Philippine Air Force outlined.
