North Wales Police recently warned people across the Gwynedd South area to be aware of the frauds roaming around the streets and claiming for donations for the Royal British Legion using contactless facilities.
As per the information shared by the official Facebook page of HGC De Gwynedd / NWP Gwynedd South Facebook page the force in a caption wrote, “Please be aware that we have received reports of people in the Gwynedd South area claiming to be taking collections for the Royal British Legion using contactless facilities.”
It is also added in the warnings issued by the force that the group of frauds who claim to collect donations for the Royal British Legion do not have and carry any Identity Proof or ID and are unknown to the local residents that have been approached.
Whereas recently, the Royal British Legion has confirmed to the North Wales Police force that none of their collectors who are collecting donations is using contactless machines.
Later in the warning update, the police force urged citizens across the Gwynedd South area to be aware and should not give them any money or other things and report this to the police immediately if they are getting approached by the same group.
North Wales police added in a Facebook post, “If you are approached by someone asking for donations to the Royal British Legion via contactless, do not give them any money or other things and report this to the police immediately.”
“If you have information about this scam or have been approached, please get in touch with us via our website or by calling 101.”
