The Conservative MP for Pendle, Andrew Stephenson, showed their gratitude towards the Pendle & Clitheroe selection committee which unanimously chose him as the Conservative Party’s candidate for the newly created constituency which comprises ten wards of Pendle and 10 wards of Ribble Valley last night.

Andrew publicly shared this update from his official Facebook account for the general people on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at 12:24 pm. In addition, he stated that the next general election is anticipated to be held on redrawn borders that take into account changes in population size and movements where people live, under the review of the UK’s parliamentary seats scheduled to be completed this summer.

On the other hand, he also said that the most recent recommendations for the present Pendle and Ribble Valley constituencies were unveiled in November, and the adoption of it is widely expected to be done.

It also suggests uniting most of the current Pendle constituency with the regions surrounding Clitheroe, Chatburn, Sabden, and Whalley. Andrew also talked about Ribble Valley, which will be redesigned to encompass regions around Preston, including Bamber Bridge and to the north of the city. The two Pendle wards covering the town of Brierfield will be moved into an expanded Burnley constituency.

MPs will continue to represent the current constituencies until the next election when the effect of boundary change will take place. The revisions unaffected local government boundary lines because they only affect parliamentary constituencies.

Andrew Stephenson further ended his statement by concluding that he is honoured to have been chosen by Conservative members from Pendle and Clitheroe as their candidate for the next General Election. He will continue to represent his existing Pendle residents until the election. After the next general election, he wants to be able to describe the communities in the new Ribble Valley seat in Parliament, and he is looking forward to getting to know them.
