The Met Office has announced a yellow weather warning for Cardiff, with heavy rain expected over the next 48 hours.
While sharing the information about the yellow, Cardiff Council’s official Facebook page added that the organization’s teams would be out clearing gullies to help prevent flash floods – but there are 80,000 across the city.
Cardiff Council urged residents that before reporting for the gullies, residents must make sure that gullies are not just covered with thin layers of leaves.
Cardiff Council added, “Before you report blocked gullies, please help us by checking they’re not just covered with a thin layer of leaves that can easily be removed with a brush.”
Cleaning the thin layer of leaves in gullies will allow water to flow through rather than over; in an update, Cardiff council added that in this way, an organization could concentrate on gully wagons where they are most needed.
Cardiff council warned residents who are thinking of cleaning on their own must take care and put their safety first by taking a quick scan to ensure that they easily fit enough while cleaning.
“If you are going to remove leaves yourself, only do so if you are fit enough and it is safe to do so, watching out for vehicles.”
Recently Cardiff Council shared an update on their official Facebook page, adding, “We are currently dealing with a burst water main in the Llanedyrn area of Cardiff, and as a result, we are aware that some properties in the CF23 postcode are either experiencing low water pressure or no water. Our teams are on-site, and we are currently investigating.”
“Please keep an eye on our website and social media for further updates. Many thanks for your help and patience.”
