Leeds, United Kingdom: Leeds midfielder Brendon Aaronson will be joining Germany’s top flight next season after joining Union Berlin on loan from Leeds on Sunday.
Sports Journalist Jonathan Tannenwad shared his thoughts on his Facebook “I’m looking forward to the year ahead with joy and confidence,” Brenden Aaronson said when his loan move to Union Berlin became official on Sunday.
It was a small phrase with a big meaning for a player who had too little of both at Leeds United.
My look at what the move means for the Medford native and his fans back home”.
Aaronson made a debut in the 36 Premier League appearances for Leeds last season after joining from Red Bull Salzburg with a deal of £25 million in the summer of 2022.
He scored one goal altogether for Leeds; He is the third player to leave on a season-long loan following relegation.
Earlier this season, several other players like Diego Llorente and Robin Koch joined Roma and Eintracht Frankfurt, respectively, in similar deals earlier.
In his statement, Aaronson said, ” Union’s path and the success of the last few years did not go unnoticed in either the USA, Austria or England, somehow you always heard something about them a year ago”.
Aaronson moved to Leeds with a signing amount of $30 million from Austria’s Red Bull Salzburg; the club signed him from the Philadelphia Union in late 2020.
He is the second soccer player for whom such a heft fee has been paid; the first was Hershey’s Christian, who was transferred from England Chelsea to Germany’s Borussia Bortmund in 2018.
” Union managing director Oliver Ruhnert siad “, Brenden Commitment has made us very happy ” He is a type of player who will be good for our attacking game. Despite his young age,he already has a lot of international experience “.
