Leads Children’s Hospital celebrates the Kite Awards 2023

UK: Leading Health Care and Children’s Hospital, Leads Children’s Hospital, celebrated the Kite Awards 2023 on Friday, November 3, 2023. It was an annual staff recognition event. The Event was organised to honour and recognise the contributions of Staff.

The Event has been on hold since 2019 because of the Pandemic.

At a fabulous event in Headingley, the Leads Children’s Hospital celebrated excellence in innovation, teamwork and compassion demonstrated by teams and individuals from all departments and specialities. 

The Awards winners were nominated by colleagues, and the awards were presented on the night by Colin Holton (Clinical Director) and Laura Whelan (Head of Nursing). 

Suzanne Abrahams (General Manager), Clare Smith (LTHT Chief Operating Officer) and Chris Schofield (Deputy Chair of LTHT) were also there to lead the celebrations. 

This year’s Kite Awards were sponsored by Leeds Hospitals Charity, and charity Chief Executive Esther Wakeman introduced a brand new award – Funded Project of the Year.  

The list of Kite Awards Event are as follows:-

1. Flying High Award – Katie Davis (Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist) 
2. Keeping Patients Safe Award – Abigail Kiely (Advanced Clinical Practitioner) 
3. Delivering the Best Award – Virginia Marsden (Cardiac Scheduler)
4. Outstanding Contribution Award – Sarah Fletcher (Matron)
5. Leading the Way Award – Haemodialysis Team
6. Innovation of the Year – DinkyBetes Team 
7. Funded Project of the Year – Virtual Reality Play Team 
8. Team of the Year – Leeds Inpatient Outreach Nursing Service (LIONS) 

Leads Children’s Hospital congratulated all their winners: the ‘highly commended’ award recipients and everyone nominated for an award. 

The awards presentations, live music and energetic dancing followed the dinner.

Leads Children Hospital extended their pleasure and thanked everyone who attended the Event on Friday, including colleagues from across Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and friends from their supporting charities: Candlelighters, Children’s Heart Surgery Fund and The Millie Wright Children’s Charity 

They also hugely thanked their excellent partners and suppliers, including the fabulous Marc & Abi band, Balloon Bear Occasions, Rockingham Trophies, DSM Productions, and the entire team at Village Hotel Club.
