Italy logs 75,616 covid and 182 casualties

On Friday, the Italian Health Ministry reported 75,616 covid cases, while the number of deaths fell from 182 to 146.

Italy has recorded 158,582 deaths linked to COVID-19 since the outbreak in February 2020, the second-highest in Europe after the UK and the eighth highest in the world. So far, 14.23 million cases have been reported in the country.

As per the data provided on Friday, the patients in the hospital with COVID-19 – not involved in intensive care – stood at 8,994, down from 9,029 a day earlier.

On Thursday, Italy logs 49 new admissions to intensive care units; the cases rise from 41 on the same day. The total number of intensive care patients in Italy was 447, unchanged from the day before.

Italian Health Ministry informed some 503,973 tests for COVID-19 were carried out in the past day, compared with a previous 545,302.
