Kemi Badenoch, the State Secretary for Business and Trade and the Member of Parliament for Saffron Walden, Essex, has extended her pleasure over the Ukrainians settling in the UK. She also shared some updates on the Government’s efforts to serve the Ukrainians.
The Home for Ukraine Scheme was launched in 2022 by the British Government to accommodate the Ukrainian refugees created due to the Russian Ukraine invasion. Under this scheme, the British Government has undertaken several initiatives to serve Ukrainian lives.
The Homes for Ukraine scheme has welcomed over 124,000 Ukrainians to the UK, including many to Saffron Walden, Essex constituency. The Secretary of State and the Member of Parliament for Saffron Walden, Kemi Badenoch in Essex, extended her pleasure. She also shared some updates on the Government’s contributions to serving the Ukranian people.
State Secretary and MP Kemi Badenich shared that she has been supporting families and local authorities to ensure they have the resources to help Ukrainians.
Last month the Government announced they would provide more financial support, with £150m of UK-wide funding to help Ukrainians into sustainable accommodation – something constituents have raised with me as a concern.
Earlier this year, State Secretary and MP Kemi met with Ukrainian guests and their sponsors locally to hear about their experience in the scheme, including access to accommodation, transport, and English language lessons.
Reportedly, the UK Government has signed a Digital Trade Agreement (DTA) with Ukraine to support Ukraine’s economy and post-conflict reconstruction and cement the UK’s position as a global leader in digital trade.
While noting these Advancements and enhancements for the Ukrainians, the State Secretary and MP for Saffron Walden, Kemi Badenoch, has emphasised the need to take several initiatives and advancements by the UK Government and serve their lives affected by the Russian Invasion.
