In a scathing critique of London’s safety standards, former England cricket captain Kevin Pietersen lambasted Mayor Sadiq Khan over a horrifying stabbing incident that occurred on a train between Shortlands and Beckenham on Thursday, March 28.
A viral video circulated on social media captured the harrowing scene of a person relentlessly stabbing another individual aboard a moving train at Beckenham Junction.
Reports indicate that two assailants boarded the train at Shortlands Railway Station, resulting in the victim sustaining serious injuries from the attack. The injured individual was promptly rushed to the hospital with life-threatening wounds.
Sharing the distressing video on social media, Pietersen expressed shock and dismay, declaring London as a “disgrace of a place.” He lamented the deteriorating safety conditions in the city, suggesting that individuals are now fearful of carrying luxury items due to the rampant risk of robbery and violence.
WTAF is this now in London?!?!?! London was once the most amazing city. It’s an absolute disgrace of a place.

“WTAF, is this now in London?!?!?!” Pietersen exclaimed in his tweet. “London was once the most amazing city. It’s an absolute disgrace of a place.”
The former cricket star didn’t stop there, directing his ire towards Mayor Sadiq Khan for what he perceives as a failure to address the escalating crime rates in the city.
Pietersen accused Khan of deflecting blame onto others instead of taking responsibility for his administration’s shortcomings in protecting citizens.
“This bloke has been in charge for years now, and all of this London nonsense has been on HIS clock,” Pietersen criticized. “Blame everyone else, @SadiqKhan – we all know what the greatest leaders DON’T do.”
Currently in India for his commentary duties for the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Pietersen remains associated with the tournament as a commentator.
Having retired from cricket in 2018 after his final match for Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League, he leaves behind a remarkable legacy as one of England’s most prolific batters.
Throughout his illustrious career, Pietersen amassed 13,779 runs, including 32 centuries and 67 fifties, at an impressive average of 44.3 across 275 matches.
The stabbing incident on the train between Shortlands and Beckenham has reignited concerns over public safety in London, prompting prominent figures like Kevin Pietersen to demand action from city officials.
As investigations into the attack continue, residents and visitors alike remain vigilant amid growing apprehensions about personal security in the capital.
