UK: Robert Largan, the Member of Parliament for the High Peak was delighted to report that the Conservative Government has awarded £1.3 million to High Peak for insulation of local homes, which is a part of the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund.

The Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund has been designed to help limit energy bills for families residing in poorly insulated council housing.

The announcement of this significant funding came after last year’s row when it appeared that Labour-controlled High Peak Borough Council did not even bother applying for any funding to help local families with their energy bills.

People highly criticised Labour for letting down the most vulnerable households in High Peak at a time when households were facing increasing energy bills.

MP Robert Largan said that after Labour’s public failure in 2022, he feels delighted that the Conservative Government have stepped up to award High Peak with a major sum of money which will help to insulate homes for some of the most vulnerable local residents of the area.

“I am really pleased that we have finally got this money to deliver warmer homes and help families with energy bills as well as reduce carbon emissions,” added the MP.

Additionally, he also reported that Derbyshire County Council would get an additional £4.2 million to help tackle potholes. This badly needed funding will help to improve the quality of local roads, lowering vehicle maintenance costs for workers, families & businesses.

“In my view, the Council need to be smart in how they use the extra funding, doing proper road resurfacing rather than just contact to fill in the same potholes again and again,” stated Robert Largan. The MP has always been at the forefront of improving the lives of citizens and residents living in and around his region, ultimately uplifting the country as a whole.
