The brand new show of English stand-up comedian Stephen Bailey was nominated for BEST NEW SHOW at the LEICESTER COMEDY FESTIVAL. The comedian was over the moon to know the development and took to Facebook to share the update.

The awards, now in their 17th year, will recognise contributions to this year’s Festival across various categories, including awards for Best Show, Best New Show, Student of the Year, Best Promoter, Tracey Miller Community Award, and Contribution to Leicester Comedy Festival 2022. The winners will be announced at a private, invite-only ceremony taking place on Monday, 27th March, in Leicester.

A Lifetime Achievement Award will also be presented at the ceremony, along with awards for the best venues and a Legend of Comedy title, which recognises outstanding achievement in British Comedy. Previous winners include the late Barry Cryer and Victoria Wood, Lenny Henry, Johnny Vegas and Jo Brand.

While expressing his happiness, comedian Stephen Bailey said he was absolutely over the moon to start the week on such a positive note as his brand new show (which will tour in 2024) was nominated for BEST NEW SHOW at the LEICESTER COMEDY FESTIVAL.

He said that he couldn’t even put into words how he felt, but to get some recognition from the comedy industry and follow in the footsteps of some of the greats means the absolute world to him.

“This was the first outing of the show ahead of the tour, so to be received in this way makes me even more excited to bring it to you all in 2024,” added Bailey.

He thanked everyone who came to his last show, to the Black Horse for being such an incredible venue and for looking after him so well and to all other for always supporting him and making him feel welcome everyone he goes.
