England: Leicester police detain three following murder of 79-year-old man (PC - Facebook account of Leicestershire Police)
England: Three people have been arrested following the death of a 79-year-old man at a property in Queens Park Way, Leicester, yesterday afternoon (Wednesday). Leicester Police officials were contacted by East Midlands Ambulance Service at 4.59 pm, who had been called to the property following a report that the man had been stabbed. Paramedics attended to the individual, but sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following preliminary enquiries, a murder investigation was launched by police. Enquiries led to three people being arrested in connection with the incident later in the evening.
A 17-year-old youth has been arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in police custody. A 44-year-old woman, as well as a 36-year-old man, has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder. They also remain in police custody.
A full investigation is ongoing, and Leicester officers remain in the area carrying out full enquiries, including house-to-house visits, CCTV, and forensic analysis. Detective Inspector David Greenhalgh, the Senior Investigating Officer from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit, said, “A 79-year-old man has lost his life, and we are fully committed to launching the full circumstances as to how this has happened who is responsible.
“We also have a dedicated team working on the investigation, and full support is provided to the victim’s family. Three people presently remain in custody being questioned in connection with the brutal incident,” added Inspector David Greenhalgh.
“There will understandably be a concern in the community today following this incident. Several officers in the area will be speaking with people, carrying out enquiries and offering reassurance. Please speak with them regarding your concerns and any information you may have,” concluded the inspector.
The police officials of the Leicestershire community are probing the incident, questioning every person of interest in this matter, and asking people to contact them if they get any related information.
