The Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Roosevelt Skerrit and his Cabinet met with the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank’s Governor, Timothy N. J. Antoine. During the meeting, the Governor shared information about the performance and prospects of the ECCU – Eastern Caribbean Currency Union and Dominica.
The representatives of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank are visiting Dominica from May 8 to 11 as part of its 2023 Country Outreach Mission. Governor Antoine continued his Country Outreach Missions in Dominica from May 8 through May 11. He met PM Roosevelt Skerrit to address critical issues.
On May 9, the Governor and other bank representatives made a courtesy call on President Charles Savarin before presenting to the Cabinet of Ministers about the ECCU’s performance and prospects under the theme of Building Resilience for High & Sustainable Growth. The group then met with the Leader of the Opposition on the same day.
On May 10, the team of ECCB will continue its tour around Dominica. It will meet with social partners from civil society, churches, labour unions and youth, followed by the Dominica Bankers’ Association. During the meetings, Governor Timothy N. J. Antoine will discuss various national development topics, which will include what the ECCS is working on to maintain the banking sector stability and enhance the well-being of the ECCU – Eastern Caribbean Currency Union inhabitants.
Furthermore, on May 11, the ECCB team will be meeting the members of the Dominican media before visiting DSC – Dominica State College and Roseau Primary School, the ECCB’s mentoring school.
The ECCB’s delegation for the Commonwealth of Dominica Country Outreach Mission includes Deputy Governor Dr Valda F. Henry; Head of Advisory Services in the Governor’s Office Dr Emefa Sewordor; Country Economist Peter Abraham Jr.; as well as Marlon Bristol the Senior Technical Assistant in the Corporate Relations Department.
As part of his 2022 year round of Country Outreach Missions, the Governor visited Anguilla during May, Montserrat during June, Saint Lucia in July, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in September and Grenada in October.
The first county outreach mission was in Saint Christopher (St Kitts) and Nevis this year in February/March. The next mission is scheduled for Antigua and Barbuda in June.
