Saint Lucia: Deputy Prime Minister Ernest Hilaire and the Minister of Tourism, Investment and the Creative Industries have recently addressed a report regarding a cruise ship visitor who arrived at the island carrying a firearm over the weekend.
While Speaking on the matter in a regular pre-cabinet press on Monday, he said Saint Lucia was not the first port of call. The man had been to two previous ports, and it had not been discovered, but the authorities found it at Saint Lucia.
He said that the man had the firearm in his shoulder bag, and the police had already dealt with the matter and emphasised that no person or visitor has the right to carry a gun or any other harmful equipment that could harm the nation’s security.
Further, he also informed that the man was allowed to leave, but the police had confiscated his firearm and expired his licence.
Meanwhile, the incident has left the communities in shock. Several users were disappointed and said, “Saint Lucia and other Caribbean Islands must focus and clean up their crime business. Tourists are concerned about why the cruise ship passenger walked with his lawful firearm under the Second Amendment, the right to bear arms. This tourist may not return to St. Lucia, including myself and my associates.”
Another user said that the perpetrator should have been arrested, Charged, Ã nd convicted in Prison.
Meanwhile, some users also called him an American Tourister and said, “Idiots like you & the arrested (development) individual should be permanently banned from ever stepping foot on St. Lucian soil. You can thank the mendicants in government & the police force for letting off the offender so lightly. American terrorists like him should have been kept in jail for at least two years just for his stupidity & arrogance, which you yourself have put on display here for the world to see (don’t you ugly Americans ever quit?)!”
